Toyota has decided to introduce great changes in the full-size pickup truck segment. New 2019 Toyota Tundra will be the first model of the Tundra’s third generation. There are several reasons for redesigning this model.

The first reason is the fact that Toyota Tundra is one of the models that didn’t get changes, except facelift for more than 12 years.

First think, D4-S has increased engine power Tacoma. The engine power of 2015 Tacoma was 236hp, while after the introduction of the second generation of the D4-S system it was 278 hp. Of course, the biggest benefit will be reduced emissions of harmful gases. Another idea in design is likely to be applied. Thats the positioning of the catalytic converter near the engine. The fact that pick-up trucks have quite high floor make the job easier to the thieves. It does not take much effort, only a good reciprocating saw to cut off the converter. There are numerous precious and expensive metals inside the catalytic converter. Platinum is the most famous and most expensive of them. Thieves will easely get several hundred dollars for precious metals.

As for towing capacity, Tundra is expected to try to compete with Chevrolet Silverado, which currently has 12500 pounds of towing.

The assumption is that there will be many changes in the outer appearance. Since 2007 and the last redesign, many years have passed. The first thing that will almost certainly be changed is the size of the wheels. The assumption is that Tundra will have 20 inch wheels in the future, just like Chevrolet Silverado or Ford F-150.     Definitely the power plant needs more updating to increase MPG & towing capacity. Yes, reliability is the Tundra’s calling card, but she has fallen too far behind the big 3 to stay in their payload and towing range.

    Please help us RVers stay with the Toyota truck line, to tow our RV trailers.

  • I will be buying one. I currently have a 2015 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition. It can pull the so called King of trucks Ford and Chevy around any parking lot with ease. I bought the truck because of the price when compared to the competition, but it tows a 36ft camper like a pop up camper. 70,000 miles and nothing but tire changes too.

    Toyota trucks are some damn good trucks but Toyota corp. need to do something to better the mpg, because really sucks compare with other trucks similar as theirs. I am a Toyota man but this is the only problem that is keeping me and other people from buying a new tundra, I’m debating on what to get between Ford Chevy and tundra, because of that reason .

    Toyota is insulting the public with the Tundra. It is old technology and all that is offered the consumer is a new radio and skin changes? Toyota deserves to loose more than 3 % in sales. When the public refuses to buy old crap then management will make a change

    Love Toyota, but can’t justify buying a new Tundra because of the poor gas mileage. Toyota need to improve the gas mileage in the Tundra.

    I’ve owned a 2007 tundra sr5 and a 2014 sr5. The refreshed interior is nice to look at but lacks allot of previous creature comforts. No illuminated key switch or
    center console. No cubbies in the rear doors, one map pocket in the seat back, only one sunglass holder. Center console no longer has removable storage bin. Under seat rear storage not offered as an option. Obvious cost cutting. Shame on you Toyota…
